What is the project about?
Calgary Heritage Roasting Company (CHRC) is the first and only Canadian coffee roaster to be 2% For Conservation Certified – which means it donates at least 1% of its revenue and 1% of its time to conservation programmes.
The company has the goal to plant 1 million trees on North American soil by 2030. To date, the brand has planted over 100,000 trees thanks to its incredible customer base.
Through the trees planted, the brand has helped store 436 tons of carbon and produce an estimated 1164 tons of oxygen. This is the equivalent of eliminating the pollution created by 88 mid-sized vehicles in a single year.
For every bag sold, CHRC plants 1 tree in an effort to offset its carbon footprint and that of the coffee supply chain.

What is The Circular Economy Grant?
The Circular Economy Grant is a scheme we launched in 2023 to reward one coffee roaster or coffee shop with $5,000 for their sustainability efforts, or $15,000 in credit to spend on our line of sustainable coffee bags, boxes, and takeaway cups.
Promoting a circular economy is at the heart of MTPak Coffee. It is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.
It does away with the take-make-waste approach and replaces it with a more long-term, sustainable outlook that benefits the planet, now and in the future.
